About David Howland Photo

My journey as a landscape and adventure photographer began in a high school darkroom on Cape Cod, where I first experienced the magic of black and white film development. Those early moments watching images emerge in chemical baths sparked a passion that would shape my life's direction.

The call of the mountains drew me west to Bozeman, Montana, where I spent four transformative years capturing the raw beauty of Yellowstone, the dramatic peaks of the Tetons, and countless powder days between Bridger Bowl and Big Sky. While officially there for college, my real education came through the lens of my camera.

Now back home on Cape Cod with my family, I've built my passion into a full-time pursuit, finding endless inspiration in New England's remarkably diverse landscapes. From the windswept sandy beaches and historic lighthouses of the Cape to the rugged mountain ranges of New Hampshire, each location offers its own unique story waiting to be told through my lens.

My work celebrates both the grand vistas and intimate details of our natural world. Recent adventures have taken me from the red rock deserts of Utah to the black sand beaches of Iceland, yet I remain deeply connected to the ever-changing moods of my New England home. Through my photography, I invite viewers to experience these wild places as I do – with wonder, respect, and a sense of adventure.

As a way of giving back to the landscapes that have given me so much, I donate a portion of sales from each photograph to the national park where it was captured. This commitment helps ensure these magnificent places remain protected and accessible for future generations of adventurers and artists to discover their own connection with the natural world.
